SEN Teaching Assistant – Flexible / Bank Staff

A Fantastic Specialist SEN School based in Greenwich are on the hunt for flexible and reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team and support pupils with Complex Special Educational Needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who want to work in education but need flexibility around their existing commitments, whether that be university, another job, childcare or other responsibilities.

You will be supporting pupils with a wide variation of needs, with sensory learning playing a huge part in the school day. You will help pupils develop their communication, independence and engagement through highly individualised activities and support.

If you have experience working with children, whether this is through a school, nursery, childcare, care work, support work, volunteering or another setting, we would love to hear from you!

No degree is required. We are also particularly keen to hear from Psychology, Education, Childcare, Health and Social Care graduates or students looking to gain valuable specialist SEN experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Support pupils with Severe and Complex SEN
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support
  • Support sensory learning and individualised activities
  • Encourage communication, independence and engagement
  • Support pupils within the classroom and wider school environment
  • Liaising with Class Teachers and SEN specialists
  • Working alongside therapists and the wider support team
  • Flexible – Days to be agreed / Term Time Only
  • £115 per day
  • Located in the Borough of Greenwich

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Experience working with children – Ideal
  • SEN experience – Ideal but NOT essential
  • Psychology, Education, Childcare, Health or Social Care background – Ideal
  • Relevant childcare qualification – Advantageous
  • No degree required
  • You MUST genuinely want to work with children with Severe and Complex SEN
  • You MUST be patient, resilient, calm-natured, empathetic & adaptable
  • A reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic individual
