Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEN School in Greenwich

A Fantastic Specialist SEN School based in Greenwich are on the hunt for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Complex Special Educational Needs.

You will be tasked with supporting pupils with a wide variation of needs, with a strong emphasis on sensory learning, communication, independence and individualised support. The students’ needs vary, with some pupils being verbal and others non-verbal.

If you have any experience working with children or young people with SEN, we would love to hear from you! This does not have to be direct school experience; childcare, support work, psychology, care or other transferrable experience will all be considered.

The school provides a highly nurturing and supportive environment where every pupil is given the opportunity to develop and thrive. You will work alongside experienced teachers, SEN specialists and therapists, receiving excellent support and training from day one.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Support pupils with Severe and Complex SEN on a day-to-day basis
  • Support pupils with their communication, independence and personal development
  • Assist with sensory-based learning and activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Liaising with Class Teachers, SEN staff and therapists regarding pupil progress
  • Provide a stimulating, safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Support pupils to engage with classroom activities and their wider environment
  • Part-Time – Days to be agreed / Term Time Only
  • £115 per day
  • Located in the Borough of Greenwich

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN – Ideal
  • Childcare, Education, Psychology, Health or Social Care experience – Ideal
  • A relevant qualification is advantageous but NOT essential
  • You MUST be passionate about working with children with SEN
  • You MUST be patient, resilient, calm-natured, empathetic and adaptable
  • A hardworking and driven individual who will exceed all expectations of the role requirements
