An Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ secondary school in Hammersmith & Fulham is searching for a bright History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant) to fill an exciting post ASAP. This is a full time & term time only role, with scope for teacher training in September 2027.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an intelligent and switched-on History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant) who is contemplating pursuing a career in teaching to gain that crucial classroom experience before committing to a PGCE.
What will this History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant) role involve?
- Supervising classes across KS3, KS4 and potentially KS5 in the absence of the class teacher
- Delivering pre-planned lessons across a variety of Secondary subjects
- Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining high expectations throughout lessons
- Ensuring pupils remain engaged, focused and completing the work provided
- Supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis where required
- Providing additional academic support and intervention for pupils who require it
- Working closely with Teachers, Heads of Department and the wider pastoral team
- Developing strong classroom management, communication and leadership skills
- Gaining invaluable Secondary School experience ahead of potential Teacher Training

JOB DESCRIPTION
- History Graduate (History Teaching Assistant)

- £120 – £140 per day
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Degree educated or strong academic background preferred
- Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
- Confident, enthusiastic and personable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent behaviour management potential
- Ability to build positive relationships with Secondary-aged pupils
- Must be resilient, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility for a classroom
- Genuine passion for education and supporting young people
- Aspiring Secondary Teachers are strongly encouraged to apply
