Reception / EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant
An inclusive and well-regarded Primary School in Westminster with an Outstanding Ofsted rating is seeking a dedicated Reception / EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to provide constant support for a non-verbal pupil with ASD, on a full-time, long-term basis starting in September 2026.
Working within the Reception class, the Reception / EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be one of two adults supporting a non-verbal pupil with ASD who currently follows a part-time timetable. During this time, you will help implement structured communication strategies, support engagement in learning, and promote emotional regulation. For the remainder of the day, you will deliver targeted interventions and provide additional SEND support across EYFS and Year 1.
The perfect Reception / EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant will have strong experience supporting non-verbal children with ASD and a solid understanding of early years development. You will be patient, nurturing, and confident implementing communication strategies such as visual supports, structured routines, and personalised interventions.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Reception / EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant
- Work within the Reception (EYFS) class as one of two adults
- Support a non-verbal pupil with ASD
- Provide structured 1:1 support during child’s timetable
- Implement communication strategies such as visual timetables and structured routines
- Deliver targeted SEND interventions across EYFS and Year 1 for remainder of school day
- Support early phonics, communication, and social development
- September 2026 Start
- Long-term / Term Time Only
- £105 – £125 per day

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Proven experience supporting children with ASD, particularly non-verbal
- Strong understanding of SEND strategies within an EYFS setting
- Confident delivering targeting interventions across Reception (EYFS) and Year 1
- Experience implementing communication approaches such a visual support
- Patient, nurturing, and calm, with strong emotional resilience
