English Literacy Tutor – Part-Time (4 Days per Week)

A high-achieving Secondary School is seeking a dedicated English Literacy Tutor to join their team on a part-time basis, working 4 days per week from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to support students who require additional help with literacy, reading comprehension, written communication and overall confidence in English.

As an English Literacy Tutor, you will work closely with students on both a 1:1 and small group basis, delivering targeted interventions designed to accelerate progress and close literacy gaps. You will support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop the skills needed to access the wider curriculum and achieve their academic potential.

This role would suit an aspiring English Teacher, English graduate, experienced tutor or education professional looking to gain meaningful classroom experience within a supportive school environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • English Literacy Tutor
  • Delivering targeted literacy interventions across KS3 & KS4
  • Supporting students with reading, writing, spelling and comprehension
  • Providing 1:1 and small group tuition sessions
  • Working with pupils who require additional support to improve literacy attainment
  • Supporting students with Dyslexia, Speech & Language needs and literacy gaps
  • Working closely with the English Department and SENCO
  • Part-Time – 4 Days per Week
  • September 2026 Start
  • £105 – £120 per day
  • Term-Time Only

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics or a related subject desirable
  • Strong literacy, reading and written communication skills
  • Previous tutoring, mentoring or school-based experience desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, supportive and engaging approach
  • Passionate about education and student achievement
  • Aspiring Teacher, Tutor or education professional
