Psychology Graduate | SEN Teaching Assistant | Waltham Forest

A diverse school in Waltham Forest is seeking a Psychology Graduate to join them as an SEN Teaching Assistant, supporting both primary and secondary pupils for an ASAP start.

The successful Psychology Graduate will be looking to gain experience in career paths such as:

  • Teaching and Education: progressing towards a classroom teacher role, SEN Coordinator (SENDCO), or Learning Support Specialist.
  • Child and Adolescent Support: moving into educational psychology, youth work, or specialist behaviour support roles.
  • Therapeutic and Healthcare Support: including roles in speech and language support, occupational therapy, or mental health services for children.
  • Higher Education and Research: assisting in educational psychology research or training future teaching assistants.

The Psychology Graduate will also be supporting children with various special needs including mental health, autism, speech and language difficulties and helping them develop their learning, social and emotional skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Psychology Graduate – SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Full-time, long-term role starting ASAP!
  • £105 – £125 per day
  • Perfect opportunity for a Psychology Graduate pursuing a career in teaching and/or gaining experience
  • Supporting students with mental health, autism, speech & language difficulties and other various complex needs
  • Opportunity to work closely with an Educational Psychologist and Speech and Language Therapist

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Psychology (or even Sociology) Graduate
  • Training or experience in SEN, child development or mental health support (desirable)
  • Creative with a positive personality
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic towards children with diverse needs.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in teaching, educational psychology, or child development.
